A Few Of The Confident Smiles We’ve Helped Create

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a sophisticated solution for replacing missing or damaged teeth, marking a significant advancement in dental technology. Unlike traditional dental bridges or dentures, implants offer a more permanent and stable solution. An implant consists of a titanium post, which acts like a tooth root, surgically placed into the jawbone beneath the gum line. This post integrates with the bone over time, providing a sturdy foundation for a replacement tooth or bridge.

The process begins with a surgical procedure to insert the implant into the jawbone. Over the following months, the implant fuses with the bone – a process known as osseointegration. This integration is crucial as it provides the strength and stability required to support chewing and biting, just like natural tooth roots.

Once the implant has bonded with the jawbone, an abutment is attached to the post. The abutment serves as a connection between the tooth implant and the artificial tooth or dental bridge. Finally, a crown, custom-made to match the natural teeth’s colour and shape, is fitted over the abutment.

What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry refers to the branch of dental medicine focused on enhancing the aesthetic appearance of teeth and smiles. Distinct from general dentistry, which concentrates on the health and functionality of teeth, cosmetic dentistry is focused on procedures like teeth whitening, veneers, and dental bonding. These procedures aim not just to improve oral aesthetics but often contribute to overall dental health. Cosmetic dentistry bridges the gap between oral health and aesthetic appeal, offering solutions that combine the practical aspects of general dentistry with the art of creating visually appealing smiles. In this field, cosmetic dentists apply their skills to enhance the aesthetic appeal of patients’ smiles, combining artistry with dental expertise.

What is preventive dentistry?

Preventive dentistry encompasses practises and treatments designed to prevent dental problems before they develop. It involves regular dental check-ups, cleanings, and educating patients on effective oral hygiene practises.

What is fluoride treatment?

Fluoride treatment is a dental procedure used to strengthen teeth enamel and reduce the risk of decay. It involves applying a concentrated fluoride solution, often in the form of a gel, foam, or varnish, directly to the teeth.

Note: Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
